Napoleon Bonaparte ordered this secret box for writing accessories in 1806. He gave it to his second wife Marie Louisa (1791-1847). The box from rare woods, decorated with nacre and ivory, was made by prominent French goldsmith Martin-Guillaume Biennais. It contains writing accessories placed in soft velvet. The box changed owners several times, in the end Anna Lützow, the wife of Count Francis Lützow, gave it to the National museum.

Material: wood (root wood, mahogany, ebony), velvet, red painted leather with golden printed ornaments, silver plated steel, gold-plated brass, nacre, ivory, clear glass, enamel, paper.

Dimensions: 53 x 32,5 cm, height when closed 14 cm.
